The Newark Teachers Association voted to endorse a “Yes” position on Bond at its monthly representative council meeting Monday night, citing the need to renovate dilapidated school sites, improve maintenance conditions, and repair school facilities for Newark’s students.
The Assocation also authorized use of its Political Action Committee funds (FPPC # 1335501) to help support passage of the ballot measure and has applied for fund assistance through the California Teachers Association’s Association for Better Citizenship political fund.

NTA also pledged to assist the campaign with phone banking, precinct walking and leafleting in addition to the financial contributions.
The association hopes that if the measure passes, any savings incurred to the District’s general fund would be used to retain staff and reinstate student programs or interventions lost as a result of recent budget modifications.
