Officers with the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force officers were investigating a report of a car being stripped of its parts and made contact with the male suspects around 10 a.m., authorities said. That is when they fled on foot, Hunter said.
One suspect, a 43-year-old man, was found in the backyard of a home on Garrone Avenue, Newark police said. Authorities are still looking for the other suspect, but a description of the suspect was not provided, Hunter said.

As of 1:40 p.m. the perimeters on and around Cleremont Drive were taken down and house-to-house searches for the outstanding suspect ended, but officers are still looking for him, Hunter said.
Hunter said it is believed only one vehicle, a white pick-up truck, at the home was confirmed as stolen.
The search is a collaborative effort among Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force, Hayward California Highway Patrol, the East Bay Regional Park District and the Newark and Fremont police departments.
No injuries were reported.
Residents of the Cleremont neighborhood tucked close to said there has not been any major police activity in the area in recent years and that the home law enforcement was focusing on was being rented out by what seemed to be a group of young adults.
