Police: Man Arrested After Threatening Truck Driver with Two Knives
In this week's crime log, police investigate threat with knives, gunshots reported in residential areas and home burglaries.

The following is a summary of calls made to and arrests made by the Newark Police Department between Sept. 12 and Sept. 18.
Violence
A 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a weapon on Sept. 13 after a truck driver delivering gas at the Chevron gas station on Stevenson Boulevard called Newark police to report that a man had brandished two knives at him. Police said the man was identified by the truck driver in a line-up. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A report of gunshots near Ravenwood Avenue was called into the Newark Police Department on Sept. 18.
A report of gunshots near Rockport Court was called into the Newark Police Department around 11:55 p.m. on Sept. 17.

A report of gunshots near Dupont Avenue was called into the Newark Police Department at 1:41 a.m. on Sept. 14.
Two reports of battery were called into the Newark Police Department on Sept. 14. The first was called in around 10:15 a.m. on Cedar Boulevard near Central Avenue and the second at 10:52 p.m. on Thornton Avenue.
A report of gunshots near Dumas Place was called into the Newark Police Department around 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 13.
Burglaries, Robberies and Thefts
Three reports of burglaries were called into the Newark Police Department. The first was on Newark Boulevard at 9:40 a.m. The other two occurred on Mayhews Landing, one around 1:50 p.m. and the second around 4:25 p.m.
A minor was arrested and booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of robbery on Sept. 16.
Three reports of burglary were called into the Newark Police Department on Sept. 15. The first at 10:57 a.m. on Mowry Avenue, the second on Hyacinth Street around 2:25 p.m. and the last on Olive Street around 6:45 p.m.
Two men, ages 41 and 39, were arrested Sept. 12 on suspicion of petty theft and having been convicted of theft more than three times. Both men were arrested at Raley's and were booked into Fremont Jail.
Three burglaries were called into the Newark Police Department on Sept. 12. Two occurred on Newark Boulevard around 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., and the third was reported on Cedar Boulevard around noon.
Drugs and Alcohol
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs at Newark and Cedar boulevards on Sept. 17. He was booked into Fremont Jail.
A 19-year-old woman was arrested and cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs at Mowry Avenue near Interstate 880 on Sept. 16.
A 38-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of giving away, or transporting no more than 28.5 grams of marijuana.
Miscellaneous
A 19-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of being in possession of a switchblade knife (having a blade two or more inches in length) on the grounds of the Newark Days carnival on Sept. 17.
Two men, ages 21 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest during the on the grounds of the Newark Days carnival on Sept. 16.
