Police: Men Rob Ice Cream Cart, Women Arrested After Shopping Spree
In this week's crime log, police investigate theft from an ice cream vendor and a case of fraud at NewPark Mall.

Police are searching for two men who may be connected to a robbery of an ice cream vendor. Two men reportedly took cash from the vendor around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 3 at Cherry Street and Clark Avenue. The men were both described as of thin build, one black and the other Hispanic.
Teenager Arrested After Residents Chase Him
A 16-year-old teenager was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary on Aug. 1 after a resident spotted him in front of her home on the 8400 block of Mayhews Landing carrying her property. She and her family chased him until police arrived. He was booked into juvenile hall. to read more about that incident.

Pair of Women Caught During Shopping Spree
A 21-year-old Hayward woman and an 18-year-old Lodi woman were arrested on suspicion of fraud and burglary on Aug. 1 after they charged merchandise on fraudulent credit cards at several stores at police said. Both women were booked at Santa Rita Jail.

Man Flees From Cops on Foot
A 29-year-old San Jose man was arrested on Aug. 2 on suspicion of resisting arrest and disturbing the peace after an officer tried to stop the car he was riding in as a passenger on Thornton Avenue. The man fled from the vehicle and a foot pursuit followed to the parking lot of Bridgeport Apartments at 36826 Cherry St. where he was arrested. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail
Man Waves Fake Gun
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violating parole, disturbing the peace and brandishing a replica of a firearm at Mowry Avenue near Interstate 880 on Aug. 5. Police said they were called to the scene when the man reportedly pointed a replica gun at someone who refused to give him a cigarette at Motel 6, 5600 Cedar Court. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
Other Incidents
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle and violating parole on Aug. 5. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
A 23-year-old man was cited on Aug. 7 on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol at Interstate 880 and Mowry Avenue.
