Police Release Sketch of Home Invasion Suspect
The suspect punched a female victim in the face during a home burglary Friday morning.

Newark police have released a sketch of a burglary suspect who punched a female victim in the face Friday morning.
According to the Newark Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. when a male suspect entered a Marsten Drive home through a rear yard window.

In their initial report, police said the suspect confronted a female victim who was asleep in an upstairs bedroom. The suspect forced her into a bathroom and held the door closed to keep her from escaping. The victim eventually pulled the door back open, at which point the suspect punched her in the face and then fled out of the front door.
The suspect was last seen running eastbound on Central Avenue toward Cedar Boulevard.

He is described as a black male adult, 20 to 25 years old, about 6-feet tall, with a medium complexion, a thin build, short brown hair and hazel or green eyes. He was wearing a green and white camouflage baseball cap, a green and white camouflage jacket and dark baggy pants. He was believed to be carrying a non-descriptive backpack.
A sketch of the suspect is included above.
A possible second suspect was also seen in the area prior to the burglary.
That suspect is described as a black male adult with a dark complexion, about 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-3, about 190 pounds, with a buzz cut.
