Update: PG&E Equipment Failure Cuts Power Near Fremont's Pacific Commons Plaza

PG&E website indicates that at least 566 customers are affected by the outages.

Lights went out at retail stores and traffic was stalled after a power outage cut off electricity at a popular shopping area and its surrounding street lights in south Fremont Tuesday evening.

More than 550 customers were impacted after electricity shut off near Automall Parkway, which is located near Pacific Commons and The Block at Pacific Commons — a retail area anchored by a Century Theaters, Target, Kohl's, Nordstrom Rack and more.

PG&E Spokesman J.D. Guidi multiple crews were still on scene working to restore power. As of 8 p.m., a total of 431 customers were still affected by the outage.

The power outage is believed to have been caused by an underground equipment failure, Guidi said, but the exact equipment failure and location of it was still unknown.

The estimated time of power restoration was unknown as of 8 p.m.
