Caltrans issued this press release:

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has activated ramp meters at the State Route 92/Interstate 880 Interchange. Ramp meters were temporarily removed from service during the interchange reconstruction project.

Metering lights are currently set to solid green during the morning peak period, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the afternoon peak period, and will begin fully functional metering on Tuesday, November 8, 2011.

Ramp metering will be in effect Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Caltrans expects the ramp metering system to improve travel times during peak periods of heavy traffic along the corridor.
