Newark Election Results: City Council Toss-Up
In the hotly contested District Attorney's race, there is a 6,000 vote difference between the contenders.
NEWARK, CA — All votes cast in Newark and Alameda County on Tuesday have been tallied, along with mail-in ballots that have been received through Tuesday, according to the Alameda County Election website, which released the final vote totals at 9:41 p.m.
One crucial race for Newark residents is so close that the lead can easily switch as mail-in ballots continue to be received by Alameda County. The ballots needed to be postmarked by Tuesday in order to be valid.
For Newark Mayor Michael Hannon has a strong lead over Jason Miguel, 2,423 votes (66 percent) to 1,236 votes (33 percent).

There are two City Council seats available with Mike Bucci appearing to have a lock on one of the seats with 2,031 votes (31 percent). For the second seat, less than 100 votes separate Matthew Jorgens 1,345 and Terrence Grindall 1,263.
For the Newark Unified School District Board two seats are available. Katherine (Kat) Jones and Nancy Thomas hold comfortable leads.

In the hotly contested Alameda County District Attorney's race Terry Wiley has a 6,000 vote lead over Pamela Price.
