A rupture to a two-inch pipe shut down a small portion of Cherry Street on Sunday.
Utility crews in Newark continued to clean up Sunday evening after a water main broke in the city early Sunday morning, a water department spokesman said.
The rupture occurred on a two-inch pipe under Cherry Street south of Central Avenue, in a mostly industrial section of the city, district maintenance supervisor Robert Ellf said.
The leak was shut off at about 5:30 a.m., and crews were working to repair the pipe Sunday afternoon, Ellf said.
