Accused Doctor Killer Admits He Did a 'Terrible Thing'
In a 10-minute jailhouse interview, Stanwood Fred Elkus said he was angry about effects from prostate surgery he had 21 years ago.

A Lake Elsinore man charged with the murder of a Newport Beach urologist was angry about prostate surgery he had 21 years ago, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.
In a 10-minute interview with a Times reporter on Friday at the Theo Lacy Jail in Orange, Stanwood Fred Elkus, 75, said, "I'll admit, what I did was a terrible thing." Elkus did not elaborate on what he was referring to, but did plead not guilty to murder in connection with the Jan. 28 slaying of Dr. Ronald Gilbert in a medical exam office in Newport Beach.
During the interview with the newspaper, Elkus said Gilbert performed the surgery on him at a Veterans Affairs hospital. An attorney for Gilbert's family said the doctor never treated Elkus.
