Beware of Blood Clots During Summer Getaways

If you are going on a long road trip or flying for your summer vacation, make sure you stay well hydrated and take walking breaks in order to prevent venous thrombosis (blood clots). With air travel, dehydration and decreased circulation can occur from several factors: low humidity, low fluid intake, excessive urination from alcoholic drinks, reduced oxygen in the air, “coach position” and immobilization.

Good advice for travelers:
