NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Christina Haack faced more than competing against her ex-husband and "Flip or Flop" costar Tarek El Moussa while filming their new show, "The Flip Off."

Haack endured some heated conversations with her ex-husband, John Hall, during the filming of the show, according to People Magazine. The pair were to compete together in the new HGTV show against her ex-husband and his new wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. Those tense exchanges were among the reasons she left the marriage. According to People, Haack said: "Things with Josh have been bad for a long time. She also reveals to her first husband that their two children "had a role in the end of her relationship."

HGTV stated Thursday that Christina's second husband, Ant Anstead, will appear as a guest judge after People spotted filming with Christina last month. Other guest judges will also appear, including "Real Housewives of Orange County's" Heather Dubrow, and some other notables from both of their pasts.

HGTV Magazine managing editor Caroline Alkire wrote. During that episode, as the game's rules are formulated, each pair would have only one week to find and purchase their flip homes.

"In the two-hour premiere episode, Tarek will throw down the gauntlet on the soccer field, initiating the competition with Christina," she said. There will be a renovation challenge each week, and one team will win a $2,000 prize from the losing team to use in the next space. Ultimately, the winning team will have "ultimate bragging rights and a first-class vacation paid for by the loser."

Though the players changed mid-filming for Haack, the stakes became higher than ever.

"Soon after a tumultuous house hunt, Christina will drop an emotional bombshell on Tarek when she reveals she’s getting divorced and wishes to continue the competition solo," Alkire writes.
She’ll appeal to Tarek and Heather for more time to complete the kitchen renovations, which will be judged by tastemaker Heather Dubrow, and offer to give them a sneak peek of her property."

Haack described her time on "The Flip Off," saying:

“Tarek, Heather and I have all been through a lot of stuff together, and we are all highly competitive,” says Christina. “Tarek is the self-proclaimed ‘best flipper in the world,’ but, honestly, give me a break. I can’t wait to smoke them at their own game.”

The six-episode HGTV show will be released on HGTV at 8 p.m. pacific /7 p.m. central on Jan. 29, 2025.
