Big Belly Deli in Newport Beach was recently closed temporarily by county health officials after inspectors found cockroaches in the deli's kitchen.

During a routine inspection on July 26, Big Belly Deli was cited with five major health violations and eight minor health violations. According to the health report, inspectors found "several live cockroaches" below the dish sink, on the wall next to a meat slicer, in the hand washing sink and behind the water heater.

Inspectors also found "a winged insect" in a container of hard-boiled eggs.

Big Belly Deli was later allowed to reopen.
