Free Empanadas To Mark Restaurant's 1-Year Anniversary In Costa Mesa

The Empanada Maker on Harbor Boulevard is throwing its birthday party Saturday & Sunday with ribbon-cutting & freebies to first 200 patrons

COSTA MESA, CA — The Costa Mesa location of The Empanada Maker restaurant will celebrate its first anniversary this weekend with a ribbon-cutting, giveaways, prizes and free empanadas, operators said.

The first 100 customers in line will score a free combo #2 meal (a $10.99 value). The second 100 patrons will receive a free empanada, plus buy-one-get-one-free deals will run Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Orange County-based business, popular for its gourmet, South American-inspired pastries, also has eateries in Irvine and Mission Viejo, which was the company's first location in 2013.

Along with the giveaways, the Costa Mesa site, at 1902 Harbor Blvd., will mark its anniversary Saturday with a ribbon-cutting at 12:30 p.m. including the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce and Mayor John Stephens.

The Empanada Maker restaurants bake roughly 60,000 empanadas per month with more than 20 varieties, according to the business. Among top-selling menu options: the Philly cheesesteak empanada; the breakfast empanada with eggs and chorizo; and the dessert selection including apple cinnamon and chocolate crème brulé.

The eateries also serve salads, soups, dipping sauces and such sides as chimichurri rice, jalapeno black beans, citrus slaw, fries and deviled egg potato salad.
