HBO Movie to Document Newport Man's Walk Around the World
Dave and John Kunst began their voyage around the world on foot in 1970. The trek included Signapore, Paris and Afghanistan, where both brothers were shot. John Kunst died from his wounds, but his brother continued the journey in his memory.
When Dave and John Kunst set out to walk around the world, they had no idea what to expect.
The Kunst brothers' voyage, which began in 1970, resulted in the shooting death of John in Afghanistan, meeting a princess in Monaco and many more small and big feats that are set to be documented in a movie by HBO, according to a report in OC Weekly.
"We didn't have what you might call serious plans," Kunst told OC Weekly. "We got out the world map, picked major countries, major cities."
The Kunst Brothers only spoke English during their journey. At the end of the three and a half year trip, Dave had worn out 21 pairs of shoes and finished the adventure despite the loss of his brother who he said "died happy."
