Health Warnings Issued at Newport Bay

Signs warning of unhealthy bacteria levels were posted Tuesday afternoon.

Some areas of Newport Bay are under a health advisory today, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Ocean Water Protection Program posted warning signs 300 feet at the north end of Newport Dunes near the pedestrian bridge and at Newport Bay at Northstar Beach. According to health officials, the bacteria levels exceed health standards and contact with the water may cause illness.
