Items Stolen from Unlocked Newport Homes
In one case, a suspect tried to pry open a rear sliding glass door and when that didn't work, found an open bathroom window.

Several unsecured homes in Newport Beach were recently broken into, police reported.
The string of burglaries occurred on Friday, May 31 between 4:30 and 11 p.m.
• While the residents were out to dinner, an unknown suspect attempted to pry open a rear sliding glass door at a home in the 400 block of Irvine Ave. Police said when that was unsuccessful, the suspect found an open bathroom window and crawled inside. Laptops, an iPad, money and a gift card were stolen.
• An unknown suspect entered a home in the 200 block of Ocean View Ave. through an unlocked door and stole laptops, a canoe oar and a book, according to police.
• Police reported an unknown suspect attempted to pry open several windows and doors at a home in the 2200 block of Cliff Dr., which activated the victim’s burglar alarm. The suspect fled and did not enter the home.
