Monday Essentials in Newport Beach: Ruby's Diner Turns 91, Phantom of the Opera and More

1. Ruby’s Diner celebrates its namesake’s 91st birthday today by offering its new NEXT GEN burger for $3.10. The new menu item features USDA Choice beef, lettuce, tomato, raw or grilled onions, a new freshly grilled artisan bun and a new sauce. After Monday, the NEXT GEN burger will sell for $7.99 at all Southern California locations for a limited time. Ruby's has a few locations in Newport Beach, get the addresses here.

2. Don't forget! On Friday, Aug. 2 at noon the city will conduct its routine Outdoor Emergency Notification System test. The system is tested once a month to ensure it will function properly in case of an emergency. It will last about 10 seconds and will be conducted at a reduced sound level.
