NBA Player Accused Of Underage Relationship Investigated By Newport Beach Police: Report

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Newport Beach police are investigating allegations that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey had an intimate relationship with an underage girl, according to reports.

The 21-year-old basketball player was accused anonymously on social media of having an inappropriate relationship with a California-based juvenile, TMZ reported, adding the age of consent is 18 in California and 16 in Oklahoma.

The now-deleted social media post said the girl, who was captured in photos and videos with Giddey, was a junior in high school at the time of the relationship, according to ESPN.

Both Giddey and Thunder Head Coach Mark Daigneault declined to comment Friday, The Athletic reported, but the NBA is probing the claims, a spokesperson told the outlet last week.

Giddey has continued to play for the Thunder even as the allegations have surfaced and investigations have begun, according to reports.
