Newport-Mesa Seeks To Fill Vacancy On School Board
The Newport-Mesa Unified School District is looking for a new trustee to represent Area 5.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — The Newport-Mesa Unified School District is searching for a new trustee to represent Area 5.
The vacancy opened up after former Area 5 Trustee Michelle Barto was voted to the Newport Beach City Council in November.
The Area 5 District covers a coastal portion of the school district, which includes Newport Elementary, Ensign Intermediate and Newport Harbor High School.

According to the district, the board is taking applications for the position until Tuesday, Jan. 21. The application is available online on the district's website and can be emailed to Samantha Baltazar at sbaltazar@nmusd.us.
Interviews will take place at a special public meeting scheduled for Monday, Jan. 27 at the district office at 2985 Bear St. in Costa Mesa. The meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
