A 33-year-old man from out of state was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly stealing a dinghy and electric boat from two different locations in Newport Beach, a police official reported.

Theodore Thomas Wagner Jr., of Charlestown, SC was arrested after police responded to a call just after 8 a.m. from a caller who reported a stolen dinghy from a location on Coast Highway, Jennifer Manzella, police spokeswoman, said.

Manzella said shortly after stealing the dinghy, Wagner ditched it on Lido Island and stole an electric boat for a short joyride.

According to Manzella, Wagner drove the boat away from the shoreline but was arrested by police soon after.

Manzella said no injuries were reported.
