A resident recently reported seeing a man and woman trying to break into a home on Island Avenue, according to the Newport Beach Police Department. The incident was reported about 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, June 30 in the 100 block of Island Ave. According to police, the resident saw a female suspect removing a window screen and a man on the roof of the house. When the witness confronted the suspects, they fled in a grey or blue Toyota, 4-door hatchback that was parked in front of the house, police reported. Police said the woman suspect was about 45 years-old, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, approximately 130 pounds with brown hair in a ponytail.
