'Ride the Future Tour' Rolls Through Newport Beach

Environmentalists ride an electric car, bike, scooter and motorcycle cross-country to raise awareness about gas emissions and break some world records.

A cross-country electric vehicle parade, aimed at breaking world records while raising awareness about gas emission, made a pit stop in Newport Beach last week.

The Ride the Future Tour started out last month in South Carolina and will end today at Google Headquarters in San Francisco. Led by Ben Hopkins, a journalist and travel enthusiast, the 44-day Ride the Future Tour includes an A2B electric bike, a Xenon Scooter, Zero Motorcycle and Nissan Leaf. The tour set out to break four Guinness World Record Titles including riding the most advanced electric bike, electric motorcycle, electric scooter and electric car in the world.

The tour stops included New Mexico and the Balboa Pier in Newport Beach.
