Road Closures for Sunday's Triathlon

The Kiwanis Pacific Coast Triathlon races into town on Sunday morning.

Editor's note: The following news release was issued by the Newport Beach Police Department.

The Newport Beach Police Department is advising of temporary road closures in the area of the Reef Point Parking Lot at Crystal Cove State Park on Sunday, September 8, 2013 for the Kiwanis Pacific Coast Triathlon.

Pacific Coast Highway will accommodate northbound and southbound traffic via a diverted traffic plan:
o The southbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway will be closed to traffic.
o The northbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway will be utilized for both northbound and southbound traffic.

Course set-up will begin as early as 5:00 am and the race will begin at 7:00 am. Expect traffic delays until 11:30 am. Pedestrians will not be able to utilize the crosswalks on impacted areas of Pacific Coast Highway. (Pedestrians may cross at Pelican Point Road, the Los Trancos tunnel, and the El Moro Campground tunnel.)

The parking lots at Crystal Cove State Park will be closed. Participants and spectators are discouraged from parking in the Crystal Cove Promenade; parking in this location is reserved for patrons of the businesses in the Promenade. Violators will be towed.
