Shoplifter Arrested at Newport Beach Store

Police allege Luis Armando Santana, 24, of Los Angeles put on two shirts in a store's dressing room and left without paying.

A man from Los Angeles was recently arrested in Newport Beach for petty theft, police reported.

Luis Armando Santana, 24, was taken into custody on Thursday, Feb. 7 just after 7 p.m. at a store located in the 700 block of Newport Center Drive, according to Newport Beach police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.

The store's security told police Santana entered a dressing room, hid two shirts on his body and left the store without paying for the merchandise. Santana was detained by the store's security until officers arrived, Lowe said.

Police would not disclose the name of the store.
