Summer Reading Program In Newport Beach Sees Great Success

More than 1,900 residents took part in this year's Summer Reading Program, held by the City of Newport Beach from June 10 through July 29.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — The City of Newport Beach's Summer Reading Program brought over 1,900 happy readers to the city's public library from June 10 through July 29, the city announced in a statement.

During the program, more than 1,900 participants read for a combined 516,515 minutes and submitted 1,910 book reviews, according to the city. More than 6,000 residents enjoyed additional library programming, such as story times, crafts, a comedian juggler, draw-along art, an animal program and a family-friendly concert.

According to the city, this year's summer programming at the library saw a significant upswing in attendance. The children's program saw a 16 percent increase in participation, the teen program was up 22 percent and the adult program had a nearly 48 percent increase.
