Thursday Essentials in Newport Beach: Marine Car Wash, Concert at the Fair and More
A few events to help you plan for the weekend.

1. Is your car dirty? Skip your normal car wash and help a good cause by getting it washed by local marines this weekend. The Newport Beach 1st Battalion 1st Marines Foundation Car Wash is scheduled for Saturday, July 27 at Newport Dunes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bill Long, a foundation volunteer, said the unit is made up of about 800 Marines which the car wash funds will be donated to help with a variety of expenses.
2. Don't forget! Residents and business owners who have questions, or suggestions, about Newport Beach are invited to the Newport Coast Community Center Saturday to meet Mayor Keith Curry. The Meet the Mayor event will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Newport Coast Community Center, 6401 San Joaquin Hills Road, Newport Coast.
3. Relive the ‘80s with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, performing at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Pacific Amphitheater. Tickets range from $21.70 to $44.20, and include free admission to the Orange County Fair.

5. Today will be mostly sunny, highs near the coast will be around 72 while inland areas will see temperatures in the mid to upper 80s.
