Wildwood Fire In Burbank: Evacuations Lifted
The fire in Burbank broke out Saturday afternoon as temperatures hit over 100 degrees.

BURBANK, CA — A wildfire erupted Saturday afternoon above Wildwood Canyon in Burbank, forcing mandatory evacuations that have since been lifted. The 45-acre fire apparently started before 2 p.m. on Wildwood Canyon Road.
All of Country Club Drive above Sunset Canyon was under a mandatory evacuation order. Around 7 p.m. on Saturday, police said all evacuations have been lifted.
Police also asked anyone in the Wildwood Canyon hiking and recreation areas and the Stough Nature Center to leave immediately. DeBell Golf Course remained open.

Firefighters from the city of Los Angeles sent a helicopter and 50 firefighters to the blaze, joining a chopper from Los Angeles County, as well as coordinated crews from Burbank and Glendale.An automated weather gauge near the fire reported the temperature was 102 degrees, and wind out of the east at 12 mph.
The plume of smoke, rising nearly straight up, was visible from across the San Fernando Valley.

The fire was one of many to spark across the state in recent days, forcing the evacuation of thousands of Californians and burning dozens of structures. A death was also reported the Northern California blaze, the Klamathon Fire.
