Burbank Welcomes Two New Developments for the Youth

The city of Burbank recently opened two new facilities geared toward enriching youngsters.

The Lycée International de Los Angeles's (LILA) opened its fifth campus, dedicated to secondary students, at 1105 W. Riverside Dr. A ribbing cutting was held last week for the site, which has 23 classrooms, four labs, an auditorium, an art room, an indoor sports rooms, two outdoor volleyball courts and basketball courts.

LILA offers a dual immersion programming educating students in both English and French.

The community last week also welcomed the opening of the new 14,000-square-foot Armenian Cultural Foundation's Burbank Youth Center.

Meeting rooms, office space and a large open area for athletic programs comprise the project. The construction of a basketball court, gym and additional meeting rooms are planned for the near future as part of the $3.5 million effort. 

The development is "the culmination of a quarter century of occasional disappointments, big dreams, and most of all, lots of hard work to find a facility best suited to our community's needs," said Stepan Boyajian, Armenian Cultural Foundation of Burbank chair. 

The Burbank Youth Center is located at 75 E. Santa Anita Ave.. It is open Monday through Friday at 4:30 to 10 p.m. For more information, contact (818) 562-1918.
