Massive Fire Destroys Two North Hollywood Buildings
LAFD Arson and Counter-Terrorism Sections were on the scene Tuesday, working to determine a cause of the fire.
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — A large fire consumed two buildings in North Hollywood on Monday night, sparking an arson investigation from the Los Angeles Fire Department that continued on Tuesday. The fire was reported at 9:07 p.m. Monday evening in the 5400 block of Tujunga Avenue, and burned for almost two hours before firefighters were able to reach a knockdown.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and saw the building fully engulfed in flames, according to Margaret Stewart of LAFD. The flames later spread to a second building, although Stewart said LAFD kept the fire from reaching a third building that was under construction.
111 firefighters were dispatched to fight the fire, which was mostly extinguished by 10:35 p.m. A full knock down was called just after 11 p.m. and no injuries were reported.
