Neil Patrick Harris to Host 2013 Emmys

From City News Service

How I Met Your Mother
actor Neil Patrick Harris, who will be hosting the Tony Awards next month, will also host this year's Primetime Emmy Awards, CBS and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced Wednesday.

"Neil is the quintessential host -- engaging, entertaining and a true showman -- with a passion for celebrating the medium we all love,'' according to Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment. "We're thrilled for him to return for CBS' broadcast of the Emmy Awards.''

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held Sept. 22 at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live.

Harris also hosted the Emmy Awards in 2009, the last time the show aired on CBS.

"I couldn't be more honored and excited to be hosting this year's Emmy Awards,'' Harris said. "And what perfect timing. I'll just do the exact same script I'm about to use for the Tonys. `And the Emmy for best revival of a musical goes to Breaking Bad!' See, told you it works.''

Harris rose to fame as the star of Doogie Howser, M.D. and starred as Barney Stinson on CBS' How I Met Your Mother.

He has also appeared in the Harold & Kumar films, The Smurfs and a variety of Broadway productions.
