The second go-around of bids to restore the historic Lankershim Depot may yield a contract thanks to a price tag that's within the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's budget.
Asbestos and led paint abatement were completed last summer, but phase two, which entails seismic work at the Lankershim and Chandler site, was delayed because estimates at the time were greater than $1.98 million.
Now, nine firms are offering their services for asking prices ranging from $1,12 million to $1.97 million.
But Metro is still reviewing each bid and is weeks away from granting a contract, said spokesperson Diana Sogomonyan. She says it's also still too soon to lay out a time frame for phase two's completion.
The depot saw Red Trolly cars pass through from the early 20th century through the 1950s.
