One of two pedestrians struck by a vehicle in the Sun Valley area Tuesday died of his injuries, and the motorist was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, authorities said.
Paramedics were sent to the 7300 block of Clybourne Avenue shortly after 6 a.m., but 36-year-old Walter Santos died instantly, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Patrick Sage, 22, was driving a beige 2003 Ford Focus north on Clybourne Avenue when he lost control of the car for unknown reasons and hit Santos and another person standing behind a parked van on the east curb of Clybourne, police said.
Sgt. David Delgado of the Valley Traffic Division said Santos was putting on a pair of boots when he was pinned between the suspect's vehicle and his own van. The severity of the other pedestrian's injuries was unclear.

Bail was set at $100,000 for Sage, who allegedly tried to leave the area but was stopped by witnesses.
