Petco Taking Over Former Blockbuster Store
The pet store chain has signed a lease and could open shop as early as this fall.
It's been a year since the decline of video rentals struck the Blockbuster Video at 4821 Lankershim Blvd., forcing it go out of business, leaving behind a 7,000-square-foot store and its trademark rooftop ticket stub logo all covered up.
But with no dip in the demand for pet toys and doggy treats, a popular chain in another industry plans to move into the storefront at the three-way intersection of Lankershim, Vineland Avenue and Camarillo Street.
Petco signed a lease with Lankershim Partners, Inc. and could move in as early as this fall, said Rob Bonanomi, first vice president of CB Richard Ellis.
