St. Anne's Thrift Shop Closing in NoHo

After 31 years in business in the NoHo Arts District, St. Anne's Thrift Shop is closing its doors at the end of the June due to rising rent costs.

However, the local hub for donated furniture, household goods, CDs, books and other items could re-open at another location.

"We're still looking and lord knows if anyones got a place we'd love to talk to them about it," said manager Andrew Gage.

Current landlord Alex Cazazian says he's enjoyed having the thrift store as a tenant, but its rent wasn't in line with neighboring businesses.

"The area has become very popular and in demand, the rents have gone up tremendously," he said, adding: "They were paying rent from long ago."

Cazazian said he'd like to see a restaurant take over the space left behind by St. Annes, though he would also welcome another thrift shop to move in.

The closing store supports the Los Angeles-based nonprofit St. Anne's organization, which cares for at-risk women.

Located at 11102 Magnolia Blvd., the thrift store's last day is June 30. A moving sale featuring 50 percent of all items is currently underway.
