Los Angeles Valley College recently broke ground on a new 30,000-square-foot building that will house a community service department, a gymnastics center and Monarch's summer camp.
The project follows up the school's new library and academic resource center and is just another step in a 42-part plan to revamp the campus that kicked off in 2002.
All of the $626 million slated for construction will be funded by voter approved propositions A and AA.
L.A. City Councilman Paul Krekorian voiced his support for the construction of the new building that's about to get underway.
"Valley College has been a leader in making strides toward shaping our community's next generation of leaders, workers and informed citizens," he said. "These improvements cement Valley College's status as a foundation of excellence in the heart of the San Fernando Valley and one I am proud to represent."
