Victim Recalls Valley Village Burglary

Eileen Pasternak, left without a right arm after a lion attack decades ago, physically engages a robber who escapes.

The victim of a recent Valley Village apartment burglary shared her encounter with the robber to CBS2.

Eileen Pasternak was asleep when the unidentified female suspect broke into lower-level apartment in the 5800 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard on May 8.

Pasternak awoke during the break-in and witnessed the crime as it happened.

"I said, ‘What are you doing here? Who are you?’ I was so freaked out,” she told CBS2. “There’s this woman in my dining room with her arms filled with stuff … my stuff.”

Pasternak, who had her right arm bitten off by a lion 30 years ago, said things got physical between her and the robber.

The thief escaped with jewelry and some of the victim's credit card, which were later used to buy doughnuts, clothes and a pedicure, according to CBS2.

Authorities circulated security photos of the suspect, described as Hispanic, 18-20 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
