
A North Hollywood eight grader is being recognized for slowing down to aid a fellow classmate during an 800-meter run, CBS2 reports.
Walter Reed Middle School student Hector Murillo didn't hesitate when his opponent, Jarahmeel Fong, pulled a muscle and fell.
Hector lent a hand and both walked across the finish line together, according to CBS2.
"I guess, simply, winning is not what matters most,” Jarahmeel told the news show.
But the act of sportsmanship did come at the cost of not breaking a school record.
