$185M In Spending For Camp Pendleton Construction Projects Okayed

About $185 million in fiscal year 2020 funding for construction projects at Camp Pendleton is included in House Appropriations legislation.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY -- More than $185 million in new fiscal year 2020 appropriations for two military construction projects at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton has been included in House Appropriations legislation.

The funding allocation follows a March letter from Representative Mike Levin (D-CA 49th District) asking the Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies to prioritize funding for the Camp Pendleton projects.

The construction projects include a new consolidated information center, which will serve as headquarters for the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, and an area mess hall and consolidated warehouse. More information on the projects can be found here.

“The readiness of Marines and sailors at Camp Pendleton is critical to our national security, and one of my top priorities is ensuring that they have the resources they need to achieve their mission,” Levin said in a statement. “I am glad to see House Appropriations fulfill my request for this much-needed funding, and I will continue to push for that funding throughout the appropriations process.”

Levin previously defended nearly $124 million in previously appropriated funding for military construction projects at Camp Pendleton that were threatened by the president’s national emergency declaration, and have since been exempted by the Administration.
