400 Marines and Sailors to Return from Afghanistan Saturday
Members of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment have completed a seven-month deployment to Afghanistan.
Some 400 Marines and sailors of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment are expected to return late Saturday from a seven month deployment to Afghanistan, according to a unit news release.
The unit worked with the Afghan National Security Force in Afghanistan, enabling the Afghans to provide security and stability for the citizens and government, the release added.
The battalion served as part of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Regimental Combat Team 6 and the 1st Marine Division.
