Update: I-5 Southbound Blockage now Clear [Video Clip]

Update (3:17 p.m., Friday) — traffic is now moving southbound on Interstate-5.

Traffic is near a standstill on Interstate 5 southbound starting at Oceanside Boulevard.  Traffic on Coast Highway appears to now be clear.

According to U-T San Diego, one person was injured in an overturned SUV in a crash at 12:40 p.m. south of Oceanside Boulevard.

The CHP website reported that someone was trapped in a black SUV lying on its side, the U-T said.

"Fire rigs and patrol cars blocked traffic lanes while firefighters freed the injured person from the wreckage and loaded the victim onto the helicopter about an hour later," the U-T said. "Some lanes remained blocked while a tow truck pulled the vehicle off the freeway."
