Agency Helping Military Families with Home Energy Upgrades
The San Diego Hero Alliance is helping the local military community get up to $4,000 for home energy upgrades. It is also offering a dinner workshop July 25.

The San Diego Hero Alliance is helping the local military community (including veterans and retirees) get up to $4,000 for home energy upgrades.
One thing many people don’t realize is that home energy upgrades are really about quality of life. Upgrades such as adding insulation, sealing air leaks, and using more efficient heating and cooling systems can benefit the entire family by:

- Eliminating drafts and hot-spots, keeping temperatures consistent and comfortable.
- Reducing indoor dust and mold – contributors to asthma and allergy symptoms.
- Reducing the need for maintenance or repair of mechanical systems and moisture problems.
- Reducing safety problems related to the condition of natural gas appliances.
- Lowering monthly utility bills.
The alliance launched the program in March, and has close to 200 participants so far.
The alliance also hosting a free dinner workshop at our office in Kearny Mesa on July 25, to explain the energy-health-comfort-safety connection and the resources available through this program.
