(San Juan Capistrano, CA) Students, faculty and staff from Saddleback Valley Christian Schools (SVCS) recently served at Camp Joy, a “carnival-style”, day-long event providing fun and entertainment for the children of military families
based at Camp Pendleton.
Working through the school’s Department of Outreach and Service, SVCS partnered with Operation Help a Hero, a public charity dedicated to the well-being and care of our American military members. The first annual Camp
Joy was a huge success reaching 90 children and 40+ moms with deployed husbands. Mothers enjoyed a well-deserved five-hour break, while their children enjoyed a wide variety of activities that included:
1. Carnival games
2. Legos
3. Puzzles & board games
4. Dress-up bins
5. Arts and crafts
6. Beauty and faux tattoo salon
7. T-shirt designing
8. Basketball
9. Tug-o-war, sack races, water games
