Barricaded Suspect Prompts Residential SWAT Standoff In North County

The standoff grew out of a call for a welfare check at the residence, officials said.

VISTA, CA — A barricaded suspect in a Vista home prompted a SWAT standoff that stretched from the late morning into the mid-afternoon Wednesday, authorities reported.

Special weapons and tactics personnel were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of North Citrus Avenue, north of state Route 78 and east of North Santa Fe Avenue, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

The stalemate was ongoing as of 3:30 p.m., Lt. Jessica Boegler said.
