Base to Hold Controlled Burn Wednesday
Residents of neighboring communities may see smoke.
A controlled burn will be conducted Wednesday on the northern portion of Camp Pendleton, base officials announced today.
"The purpose of the ... burn is to reduce fire fuels in training areas northeast of the San Mateo area to the Camp Pendleton boundary with the Cleveland National Forest," according to a Camp Pendleton public affairs office statement.
Communities surrounding the base may notice smoke during the burn, the statement said.
