Battalion to Assist Afghan Forces in Deployment
More than 800 members of the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines will deploy to Afghanistan this summer.
Members of the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines will deploy to Afghanistan this summer to fight the insurgency, the base released.
The unit will assist the International Security Assistance Forces organization as it re-postures its command. The length of the deployment is not yet known, but they will stay until the mission is complete, according to the base.
The unit has more than 800 members, the North County Times reports.
