Border Agents Nab 10 Lbs. Meth on I-5 Near Camp Pendleton

Agents caught a suspected drug smuggler Thursday at the San Clemente border checkpoint.

U.S. Border Patrol agents nabbed ten pounds of meth at the I-5 checkpoint south of San Clemente Thursday afternoon.

At 1:30 p.m., agents at the I-5 checkpoint stopped a 25-year-old male Mexican national driving a 2004 Ford Focus. When the agents brought out the drug dog to inspect the car, it indicated drugs were hidden in it, according to a release from the Border Patrol.

Five bundles found jammed behind the left and right rear quarter panels yielded 10.14 pounds worth $202,800 on the street, the release states.

Agents turned the suspect and drugs over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Border Patrol Seized the vehicle, the release states.
