CAMP PENDLETON, CA — A brush fire burning Monday aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton was sending smoke across surrounding communities.

The fire was burning within the base's Zulu Impact Area, which is about 5 miles from Fallbrook and 6.6 miles from Oceanside. The blaze was sending smoke into northern San Diego County and southwest Riverside County.

"While there is no threat of this fire extending beyond the installation, smoke may be visible on Camp Pendleton and surrounding communities," Camp Pendleton officials said on social media. "Camp Pendleton Fire will continue to monitor the situation."
