Camp Pendleton Brush Fire Balloons To 300 Acres
The blaze was reported around noon Sunday.

CAMP PENDLETON, CA -- A brush fire erupted Sunday at the Camp Pendleton Marine base. Officials reported the blaze, which sent plumes of smoke to the surrounding areas, around noon.
The fire, which was burning near the Wilcox range near the center of the Marine base, was originally reported as three acres. By 3:30 p.m., the fire grew to 300 acres, officials said.
Crews were on scene working to contain the blaze.

It wasn't immediately clear if any structures were threatened on base. North County Fire Protection District officials said there was no threat to lands in their jurisdiction area off the post.
Riverside County firefighters warned the public that smoke could be expected in the Murrieta and Temecula area.
