Update: Oceanside Brush Fire Contained
The fire broke out in a riverbed at Camp Pendleton off Douglas Drive and north of Via Cibola.

Firefighters throughout North Country joined in Oceanside to fight a fire that consumed more than 20 acres Monday afternoon. The fire—which started shortly before 4 p.m. off of Douglas road, near Via Cibola—was extinguished within two and a half hours, the Oceanside fire department reported.
Firefighters arrived on scene and found dense smoke behind Pilgrim Creek Estates, the report stated.

Various agencies responded, according to the release, including, Regional Air Support from the California Department of Forestry (CDF), CDF hand crews based in Rainbow, and neighboring fire departments including Camp Pendleton, North County, San Marcos, Carlsbad and Vista. Also, a strike team of Mutual Aid Type 3 Brush Engines was assembled and used to battle the fire.
